Vibrant black currant beverage served three refreshing ways: sparkling mocktail, creamy smoothie, and infused water. Ready in just 15 minutes.

# What You Need:

→ Sparkling Black Currant Mocktail

01 - 1 cup black currant juice, unsweetened
02 - 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
03 - 2 tablespoons simple syrup
04 - 2 cups sparkling water, chilled
05 - Ice cubes
06 - Fresh black currants for garnish
07 - Fresh mint sprigs for garnish

→ Black Currant Smoothie

08 - 1 cup frozen black currants
09 - 1 ripe banana
10 - 1 cup plant-based milk
11 - 1 tablespoon honey or agave syrup
12 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
13 - Ice cubes, optional

→ Black Currant Infused Water

14 - 1/2 cup fresh black currants, lightly crushed
15 - 6 to 8 fresh mint leaves
16 - 1 lemon, thinly sliced
17 - 1.5 liters cold filtered water
18 - Ice cubes

# Steps:

01 - In a pitcher, combine black currant juice, lemon juice, and simple syrup. Stir well and add chilled sparkling water. Fill glasses with ice, pour the mixture, and garnish with fresh black currants and mint sprigs.
02 - Place frozen black currants, banana, plant-based milk, honey or agave syrup, and vanilla extract in a blender. Blend until smooth. Add ice cubes if extra chill is desired. Pour into glasses and serve immediately.
03 - Add lightly crushed black currants, mint leaves, and lemon slices to a large jug. Pour in cold filtered water and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to infuse. Serve over ice.

# Top Tips:

01 -
  • Three completely different experiences from one ingredient—mocktail for the showstopper moment, smoothie for breakfast bliss, infused water for sipping throughout your day.
  • Ready in 15 minutes flat, which means you can actually serve these at a gathering without spending your entire day in the kitchen.
  • Black currants are packed with antioxidants, so you're basically drinking wellness without any of the bitter supplement aftertaste.
02 -
  • If your black currant juice tastes oddly metallic or bitter, it's likely already sweetened despite the label—always check by tasting a spoonful before committing to a full batch.
  • The infused water will keep developing flavor for up to 24 hours in the refrigerator, but after that the mint becomes overpowering and the lemon turns slightly mushy.
03 -
  • Chill your glasses in the freezer for 10 minutes before serving the mocktail—the temperature contrast between the cold glass and the drink makes everything taste more vibrant.
  • If you can't find fresh black currants, frozen ones work identically well for the smoothie and infused water, and the juice is available year-round at most markets now.
